I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. Humans are social creatures, we evolved being social to help us survive against great odds.

I'll see if I can find it, but I wouldn't boast about having Asperger's, it's better to boast about being an NT (Myers-Briggs personality type)
I was joking. I don't think we need a society of of Dr. House walking around.
Me = INTJ, if you were curious. :P

In case you guys were wondering (I had to search around a little), the res on the 24"er is 1900x1200.
1920 x 1200 - so it's 1080i/p compatible....

And who, exactly, are you talking about?
All I've seen are a few anonymous comments on this message board. Who are those people? Are they pros? I don't know who they are. Do you know?
Funny how you've developed a whole theory about "professionals" and yet you haven't proved in any way that any pros said what you claimed they said. I've read that the crowd at the show seemed to really love it.
Looks like you totally misread his post - he didn't say professionals, he said "professionals". Meaning people who claimed to be pros.
And it's funny, yesterday those "pros" were all ranting that tons of features were removed and the rest of the suite killed, now that that has been debunked they're off in hiding.
Because you made a post that claimed our editing skills have nothing to do with creativiy or experience, but simply that 'knowing the software' is the only advangate we have.
Good try, but no. Because you misread his post and assumed something he didn't actually say. I know, sometimes sarcasm can be tricky, but it seemed pretty obvious to me.
There ARE "pros" who get mad because software gets cheaper and easier to use. If they are truly talented they should have nothing to worry about, but I'm sure there are guys out there who aren't especially great editors who are getting work because they could afford the cost of entry.

But...but...but...this is only "iMovie Pro"! Apple's dumbing it down! No "professional" would spit on this if it was on fire! A buncha internet blowhards said so, so it must be true!
Can you elaborate? What features make it dumbed down? Do you even know? Or are you just repeating what other ignorant people are saying cause it sounds cool?
Or are you actually employing sarcasm?
It's nice to see the generally positive comments on this forum, other forums for "professionals" are not so happy!
Personally I can't wait to start working with it.
I can't wait, either. I definitely won't use it professionally for quite a while but I'm excited to jump right in and start exploring. I'm guessing none of my 3rd party plugins will work and existing projects won't be compatible, but I'm so glad they're rebuilding FCP and moving into the future.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)
If you think about it, it's not all too surprising that some of these "professionals" are getting so worked up and sulky over this release. The notion that "pro editing" can belong to just about anyone, rather than an exclusive circle of elites, poses an existential crisis. Apple's re-thinking of editing is also a re-thinking of what it means to be "professional". The announcement sheds light on a future in which their "advanced", learned techniques are no longer advantageous. The "industry pros" are facing the plight of impending impotence. It's not something anyone would really openly admit, but I think they're feeling a bit naked, stripped of their status.
Who can blame them for being pissy?
Haha, that sounds funny but it's not real-world. Film/Video production is actually hard work and requires skill and talent. Just because you can buy Final Cut Pro and learn where the buttons are doesn't mean you know the first thing about what you're doing. I see proof of this all the time. It's very hard to fill positions because a lot of up-and-comers these days can talk the talk but are actually dumb as feces. Call it "professional" or "elitist" or whatever you want but talk to me after you stare down the barrel of 200 hours of video and make a show out of it. Until then, you're all talk.

How come it is extremely imporbable and unlikely?
They presented there script against a mac because the mac strives on the claim that they are the safest pc out there.
They said in there interview they targeted the mac because they hate the commercials.
Explain how that makes there presentation poor.
Simply put, by presenting the hack with a MacBook they made it appear as though the MacBook had a fatal flaw that was inherent to the system and they were poor at presenting this flaw as a problem with a particular third-party wireless card.
The addition of their complaining about the commercial made they appear as though they had a vendetta and a bias which security researchers should avoid. The flaw should have been presented with a multitude of systems, including the Mac, to show how the flaw affected Windows and the Mac, and they should have been more clear about the addition of a third-party USB wireless device as well as their tweaking of OSX's settings.
They went for a flashy presentation and got fried by it.

Something to take into consideration:
If these guys didn't want Apple to be embarrassed, why did they go ahead and use an Apple computer? That was quite polite of them not to show how vulnerable the Airport card is...or just plain bull. I don't believe this for one second. It's all to easy to say something, but a little harder to back it up with actions.
Not all drivers are created equal.

So the concept of this attack seems similar to Bluetooth exploits that target "discoverable" phones. And the solution for many people was to make their phones non-discoverable, since they were already paired to all the important devices anyway.
In the Airport preferences, there is the "By default, join: Preferred networks" option. In addition, when you click options, you can select to keep searching for preferred networks when one does not find a preferred network. But I'm not sure... is this enough? Or is the system vulnerable even when it is only looking for preferred networks? It would seem like one could spoof enough of the signal of a preferred network in some cases (e.g. when it's a company network with a known name as opposed to my hidden network at home, the name of which no one else really knows).
It seems like, in the long run, there needs to be something like a "non-discoverable" mode for 802.11 to solve this issue....

(and no, after the DLhell from doing an upgrade from 98 to XP, I would never go the upgrade route again)
Note that the Windows 98 -> Windows XP "upgrade" was roughly the same as upgrading from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS 10.1. XP was a completely different codebase and layout from Win9x.
An XP -> Vista upgrade is an upgrade from one version of NT to the next version of NT. Microsoft has a much better track record at NT upgrades.
(The system that I'm on now started life in 1997 as a Windows NT 4 SP3 system. It's been upgraded to NT4 SPs, Win2K beta, Win2K RCs, Win2K SPs, WinXP betas, WinXP RCs, WinXP SPs, and soon I'll put the Vista RC on it... Never re-installed, never re-formatted.)

I'd like to point out the reason it is being released at WWDC. It has a form of widgets and internet connectivity options. It will be a whole new platform for developers to release apps. I was told this 6 months ago, by somebody who has always given me Apple rumors correctly.

agreed... and even if this wireless sync comes to existance it will be a waste. I'd way rather have a thunderbolt connector on the next set of iDevices than wireless sync. No point in being wireless if i have to leave it on a charger so the battery isn't half dead 3 hours later when it's done syncing. Why people would prefer that is beyond me :D
Well if i only needed few hundreds of MB of data and stuf like calendars and contacts or emails to sync it's a nice addition. That's basically what i would use it for.

Besides, no more Intel Core Solo in Mac Mini.
I'm surprised the mini's price points remained the same. I was expecting price drops as seen with the iMac. The 20" is a steal!

Brilliant.
What do you want me to say that people haven't already voiced?
That The Beatles have received 7 Grammy Awards and 15 Ivor Novello Awards.
That they have been awarded 6 Diamond albums, as well as 24 Multi-Platinum albums, 39 Platinum albums and 45 Gold albums in the United States and in the UK they have 4 Multi-Platinum albums, 4 Platinum albums, 8 Gold albums and 1 Silver album?
The fact that you can just dismiss them is laughable but hey i don't want to upset you anymore than i have.
Oh and stop calling me son.
Looks like both of you were calling each other son, as some sort of insult or something…? I don't understand you kids these days.

Additionally, for the average person (who cannot read Hebrew and is not familiar with Jewish history and doctrine) it could be difficult to see the trinity in the old testament.
I'm a bit confused. How exactly does the context of the Old Testament point to a triune god? I've done a lot of academic study of the Tanakh in general, and Second Temple Judaism in particular, and I'm at a loss to where in Jewish orthodoxy the idea of a triune god exists.

Neat.
I had a surplus of $476B and solved SS 100%. I gutted military, but I bumped up United Nations, alternative energy, education, medical research, and worker re-training.
I also stopped just about all aid flowing out to other countries. I'll let Sally Struthers and the affluent private sector contribute if they want to... that is, if the affluent have anything left after the mondo taxes I dropped on them. :D

No, I'm saying this completely fake but probable guy isn't doing well enough with his full time job (which is as a graphic artist), so he's doing a little freelance work to get to a point where he can afford his various monthly payments. It's a break even thing, and there's not much left over, if any... theoretically.
And this fake and completely improbable guy scenario can't ask his boss to use the legally licensed copy at work after hours or just use an older version version ? Or can't do without the FULL CS suite and just buy the portions he needs ? Or... just use another tool than Adobe's that is cheaper ?
No seriously, not an excuse or valid scenario. A freelancer would find a way if he's motivated enough.

yes all that I wanted in my imac. VRAM memory bumped to 256 would have been great but I appreciate more the price drop. I was going to buy a 20" (glad I havent yet) but know who knows.
Here in Honduras, the only authorized mac reseller in my city had the last 20" for US$2052 (in Honduras, computers are sales tax free), I wonder if they will apply the full $300 rebate. If they use the same margins the 24" should be around US$2250. Still not bad since I was going to pay US$2000 for it. The only problem with them is that they dont give you the option to customize your mac.
So if I go with either the 20" or the 24" I win both ways! Thanks Apple.
Now how long will I have to wait to they have them here? BTW They sold all of their 17 and 20 imacs nationwide and they said that they were waiting for a shipment of new models.:)
I will be a happy camper this christmas!

This is for developers, they come to see what kind of software they need to develop. They don't really care for hardware, and they don't pay this much just to see the announcement of the iPhone, something they could have seen online or just read about. This is all about discussing what Apple wants developers to do in their programming.
Please, its about both. For you cannot have software development without the hardware.
iOS 5 seems to be a draw this time. Sure hope there is enough there to make folks feel like they got their monies worth.
