The issue that always seems to pop up in these affairs is the OIL. Well, yeah, that is important. Though we have no vested interests in Libya per se (apart from, perhaps, the Lockerbie incident, and possibly the Achille Lauro), it has been mentioned periodically that oil is "fungible". Even if we are not actually consuming Libyan oil, its absence from the global pool would affect us, so really, there is a significant interest there.
More importantly, though, the oil-soaked nations draw a lot of income from their fields, which allows/forces them to acquire the most sophisticated martial paraphernalia available. In this respect, they represent the most serious potential threat to everyone else in the world. Hence, Kuwait and not Sudan, Libya and not Cte d'Ivoire.
Really, though, I have this nagging feeling that the right-wing indignation over this action is partly being fomented by Halliburton and Blackwater, who stand to make no absurd profits in Libya.

As for your trip, you don't need to rig anythig up. I have a Belkin SportCommand (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/belkin-sportcommand-fabric-remote-for-ipod/) that works great on the bike. I just strap it to my left thigh and have full control over the iPod stuffed in a bag. Just drop your hand down to the control and you don't even have to take your eyes off the road.
See, I think that's unnecessarily complicated. I only need one button to handle play, pause, next and previous with a rocker for volume and this doesn't necessarily have to be separated.
I'm not sure how I want to do the GPS and if the iPhone will be a part of my panel or if I'm just going to use BMW's unit. I ended up doing some pretty neat things with my iPhone in Burma, Cambodia and Uganda so I'm leaning towards use the iPhone as the primary. Anyway, how I set up my gear will affect how I set up my control scheme. I don't know yet, but I'm going to experiment with it over the next year.
South American ride? I want to go!
I'm giving myself a year. Want to learn some Spanish. :)
I had this planned out a year or two ago but the guy I was going to ride with changed his mind and decided to do it by bicycle instead and I ended up getting suckered into another series of assignments on the ass end of the planet.
Rain or shine, starting in the summer of 2012. Gotta start before the end of the world. :)

You all crack me up at least, thanks for the chuckles!
Conditional thievery is just something people do in order to justify whatever they are doing unlawfully. Downloading and cracking the Adobe suite? HIGH FIVE! Breaking into a car dealership and driving off with a car you didn't pay for? NO of course not! Because 'that's different' when it isn't. A company offers a product/service and you are using it/taking it without compensation for that item. Digital or physical it's the same thing.
The funniest are the OSS/Linux advocates who claim that "piracy isn't theft" and "it doesn't hurt anyone" and then whine like a baby when someone "violates" the GPL and call for stern measures (such as lawsuits) against the violater.
Hey, if no one is hurt when you do it then no one is hurt when someone does it to you.

In other news, Adobe Systems Incorporated feels that an income of $775M is just not adequate enough for their regular money pit parties. While I cannot/do not condone piracy; Adobe definitely knows how to alleviate a pirates guilt on the issue.

all this beaming vs using the ear buds (yours or theirs) reminds me of the great expense NASA went to make a pen that works in space and Zero G. as compared the Russians who used a pencil
Urban legend. The space pen was developed by a third party, and pencils were used in early nasa missions. Pencils aren't good for outer space since they can burn and shavings and lead bits can float around, which is hazardous.

You maybe didn't read my post properly. I said I spotted that 6.0.5 could do this but I still don't know how. Whenever I select a different set of speakers it swaps to the new set. Do you need to press a modifier key or something? (Can't test just now because one of my AEs is elsewhere).
The v7 interface chugs a bit on my 1.25 GHz PBG4. I think the interface has too many dark shades. What's with the black highlight in the sidebar?
Oh, sorry, I must have read it wrong. I'm not at home right now either but I know I can do it on my setup at home. It's just always worked but I can't recall exaclty what the menu looks like right now. I think there is a "multiple speakers" option in the drop down box for selecting where to stream. If you select that it will bring up a box with check boxes next to each set of spearks available and if you select them all it plays to them all. I'll double check when I get home.

You know what, Steve never said Apple would NEVER do a video iPod. What he said was that video just didn't make sense at the time. For one thing, he said that there was practically zero demand from iPod users for video. Then he qualified his statement by saying that the situation might be different in the future, but the media being what it is, his comment was reduced to the overly simplistic (but easy to report), "APPLE WILL NEVER MAKE A VIDEO IPOD."
He didn't really say that either.

"You're always fighting things that are opposed to each other. As an example, take the PlayStation 3. It's a great game machine, but it's not such a great music player. There are many reasons for that, but the biggest reason is that it doesn't fit in your pocket, does it? Games need nice big screens. Music players need to fit in your pocket. So you have to pick one and optimize for it, and the second thing you do will certainly be suboptimal. Maybe you can do it, but it will be suboptimal.
So you can do video on these devices if you want to, but the things that are suboptimal about it are the screen size and the battery lifethings like that. The fundamental problem here is...Headphones are a miraculous thing. You put on a pair of headphones and you get the same experience as with a great pair of speakers. Well, there's no such thing as headphones for video. There's not something I can carry with mesomething I can put onthat will give me the same experience that I get when I'm watching my 50-inch plasma display at home. And until somebody invents that, you're going to have these opposing constraints."
Makes it sound like no video ipod, and yet he released one just a couple months later, even though the big constraints he listed hadn't been eliminated.

That is fine. I'm not telling you what your opinion should be. I'm just saying, I found the story to be quite good, and all of the levels seemed very logical in their order and importance. The fact that you missed all the dates in all the cutscenes might explain why you found them to be "random" in their occurrence. The story was VERY far from rubbish, in my opinion.
I think it boils down to expectations. If you are happy living another chapter of the story, then it's ok. If a player is anticipating a "new" experience, I'd agree that there is room for disappointment from a story perspective. However I thought the space flying was fun. If I critique it, story wise there seems to be no revelations regarding mankind's prequel pre-Halo encounter with the Covenant. Their on Reach, mostly run around and fight'm. I think it confirms it's time to put the Halo story to bed.
My favorite Halo games are the original and Halo 3. Halo 3 is amazing. No surprises there? :)

This feels like a story planted by Apple, in order to apply leverage in all the behind the scenes fighting amongst the big players.

A welcome feature. What about AT&T?
The article seems to imply that perhaps ATT has already agreed, hence why Apple is negotiating with Verizon at this point.
I'm not certain though as the article fails to mention ATTs role, if any, at all.

I got 2 MacBooks for my business and i just got them shipped to me the other day, i installed the SMC Firmware update and tested the machine under the core-duo test for 45 minutes and nothing.
I did notice the fan was going like a jet engine and was waitin for the macbook to lunch off the desk but that never happend
when checked the temp before the test it was 40 C ... during the test it was 78 C ... after the test it went down to 56 C and it stayed like that for 45 minutes on idel before it went down to 45 C
how do i know if the heat sink on my MacBooks have been replaces or not, they were both costom orderd MBs and i did wait 1 month to get them from apple website
Your Macbooks are perfectly fine. Basically the fan control does the following:
1. Keep the CPU below a certain temperature (It's 57°C or something, don't
know with the new firmware)
2. Minimum fan speed is 1500 rpm (even at 2500 rpm, you don't hear the fans, the hard drive spin and CPU noise are still louder)
So in your case the Macbook cooled down below the threshold after the test. Thenthe fans on low speed slowly cooled it down. Try out SMCFANCONTROL and play around with the slider. If you put the fans to max speed when the macbook is idling, the temperature should go below 50°C within a few seconds. Beliece it or not, the room temperature ant the heat conductivity factor of the surface your macbooks are on (wood = bad, cold metal = good) are a big factor. Lift the hinge of the Macbook up with a pack of smokes if you want good air flow :-)

When you see them in a kiosk at McDonalds...then they will be nearing global domination. :)
I see them at the Best Buy Kiosk's in all the major airports around the country.
If you have flown anywhere lately you have notice Apple products, IPads, MacBooks are the preferred electronic device on most major flights. I was at JFK last week, The waiting areas had 100's of Ipads built into the seats for all those waiting so they could surf the web.

Only on an Apple forum, when new features are raised as possibilities, does a sizeable minority of posts involve griping about "Why would you want to do that?!" or "What kind of stupid feature is that?"
I don't see what's so hard to accept that some times, in some instances, some people might find use of over-the-air updates. Given that Apple always releases new iOS updates at 1pm during weekdays, when the vast majority of us are at work, I can easily invision scenarios where there's a cool new feature in a point update that everyone wants to give a spin. Why not start the download at work so it's ready to test drive before you leave the office?
And, to all those citing bandwidth constraints as curtailing this behavior: Verizon users have no such constraints.

This could help many students take a quick look at an e-book to verify or check some info while studying, instead of lugging around a ton of books
EDIT: Just a quick question: would this e-book feature be able to see images embedded in the e-book? or just text?

Judging from history what do you thing, when would iLife '07 be available?
I am seriously considering to wait a little longer (the 1.83 model has left me strongly disappointed).
So I thought I can wait a little longer and buy when iLife 07 will be included in the purchase (to make up for the lousy specs )

LOL, who do you think the NATO military is? France? Italy? LMAO, don't make me laugh! Massive military spending cuts and downsizing was the first thing Europe did during their financial downturn. They couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. The US Military -is- the NATO military. And if you think that we won't send ground troops, you haven't been paying any attention.
It's worth mentioning that my comment is about five days old. Some things have changed like proposals to arm the Libyan rebels and stepped-up attacks on Libyan forces. The whole point of the no-fly zone is to limit the carnage like Lord B (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12314801&postcount=29) said in another thread. And that's where I draw the line. If you have a better plan I would like to read it. But judging from your illegal war comment I guess you're only interested in partisanship.

I haven't? Obama seemed pretty clear in one of his latest speeches that he won't send troops on the ground. If he does I'll call him out and condemn it. It's a stupid idea, also, to arm the rebels. I hope we don't do that.

I HATE 3D... its so poorly executed.... and even if it was better then it still seems a pointless direction to go in.
Soon enough i hope the movie studios see that all their efforts are pointless and stop wasting their budgets on a gimmick that has the masses divided the better.
I am so glad i waited for the iPad 2 and didn't make the mistake of waiting for the iPad 3(D)....!
