The great price-point is Apple's strategy to make the App Store more mainstream.

1) Apple bought Nike - Apple Air Sneakers to go with your iPods
2) Steve is gonna let one rip ......
Very intriguing.. Apple keeping us on our toes days before the event!!!
it better not be anti-climatic!!

Ain't that the truth! Anyone actually seen someone using one of these yet?
Actually I have at work. He's a rich kid who owns an iPod as well, but decided to get a Zune because he was "curious." It was a brown one, and (what a surprise) wasn't even being used. It gets more use as a paperweight.

Building a new PC soon Well i hope for my money Microsoft give me a nice big shiney box for Vista with lots of pointless manuels that give it that expensive heavy feel.
After years of "naughty" versions of Windows feels weird to be looking forward to paying for the latest version.

Speaking as someone who has 3 wal-mart supercenters within 5 miles of them, I can definetely say that they don't need any more money... is a few million a little meager for the likes of the children?
what is wal mart going to do, get rid of the ipods, which give them revenue? also, does anyone remember them going insane over the apple music store?

Sweet! I have a shortage of my favorite Beatles songs on my iPod. Most of my Beatles CDs had at least one scratch that prevented proper ripping into iTunes.
Apple, you have that fixed in iTunes yet? I'd like to see the Cancel button actually work and also the ability to selectively rip or bypass any one song I want to on my disk.

I don't know the answer to question one, but the answer to the second question is yes. On top of that, the rate of conviction of blacks is higher.
It was ONE question, not a first and a second one. Whatever somebody answers to only the second half of it, is totally meaningless as long as the answer to the first half is not "yes".

That's hilarious. I needed that to clean off the rotten day I had. At least my day wasn't ruined by anything from Apple.

The cover art view sounds interesting, but Ill have to see it for myself. Other than that, not too much else of interest to me, mostly because I dont live in the States and therefore dont have access to TV shows on iTunes, let alone movies.
Lets hope Apple fixes some of that so that I can actually make good use out of that iTV thing when it is released next year ;)

Nice update except for the videocard and maybe the price. It's good that it arrives now for the people who were waiting for the update.

If I were them I'd go with iTunes as you'll sell more songs, anyway hopefully they'll go out of copyright in 2012 in the UK.

I don't get why everyone is complaining about the icon in the dock, all they changed was the color of the eighth note. It wasn't that big a deal.
That's not true. Unlike the last couple revisions to the icon, the look as a whole also changed. The CD/DVD is different, the lighting is different, etc. I do prefer the old icon.
That said, I think this new version of iTunes is amazing! Who really cares if the icon is not my favorite? The features are fantastic! And I like the look of the actual interface a lot.
I get excited about updates like this because they are free! Computer updates are great, but I can only afford one every few years. iTunes I use everyday, and it's free.:D

there goes some of sony's good brand quality image.
one the good side. I once had to swap out a battery from apple before.
it was quick and easy. honestly i am a power user, travel tons.
could use a new fresh pair of batteries anyway. i am checking to see if any of my 3 are swapable.
hey not a bad thing. this is preventative. my batteries have been fine, aside from losing life after tons of charges.

ok thanks would you say wifi is the best or att&t wifi ??
Personally, I only get the wifi versions. I have no need for 3G data as I have wifi at home and watch movies, etc while in transit. There is wifi almost everywhere. Also, the data plans are pricey for what you get and the service is not up to par.

That's why I added an iPod interface to my car. Toss the iPod in the glove box and control it from the steering wheel. ;)
I am picturing you steering right to go down a list, left to go up and honking each time you want to middle button. :)
Actually the HD based iPods don't get along too well with the vibrations generated from a motorcycle. With that said I did take a 6000 mile trip with my iPod Video and definitely put some wear and tear on the HD. Later in life it even started acting up in the Jeep on paved roads. I hope the HD has completely failed now for whomever stole it. ;)
My HD based iPods that failed from too much time on the back of a motorcycle didn't show signs of failing. They just farted out and unhappy faced me out of the blue.
The classic is nice while doing yard work. If I don't like a song I can just reach down without looking and hit the skip button. No need to stop, take off the gloves and unlock the screen.
You know, it's like the headphones with remote and mic w/ volume controls never happened to half you folk. After a very short and easy learning curve, it's even easier to interact for basic functions than the wheel. One of the projects that's on my list of to-dos before my South American ride is to rig a control scheme.

Well said. I have to agree with you.
Most friends and relatives bring up the clock speed and price. But when they see how the machine looks on my desk, when they step up to OS X and take it for a spin, they see why I could take a speed "loss" for all the luxury that Apple brings to the user experience.
Now, a lot of us rumor-heads are focused on bleeding-edge. And it kinda burns us that Intel/Athlon chips are closing in on 3GHz and we've just broken 1 gig. But we (rumor-heads) are the few, and PC marketing no longer seems to focus on speed. And I believe that Apple is slowly turing more heads out there.

I think one of the greatest flaws in the wireless is that the only use I can see is between friends, I have a wireless MP3 Player already (called a macbook, it's a litttle smaller than the zune ;) ) and in a CS seminar someone bluetoothed me a song, now as a Maths student I don't know the Comp Sci people so I'd never spoken to before so I rejected it, I can't believe I'd do any different if I had a Zune, unless I knew them, in which case I might as well go round with my iPod to their house ;).

Sadly I don't think the 1G nanos will get them. Remember when the video and nano came out, with the stopclock, security lock, etc? The previous iPods didn't get an update :(.
There was an iPod update on my 5G today, but it was only for games and bug fixes:(

As I eagerly await delivery of my first iPad, I know that I want an iPod that will only play music. When I am exercising, I don't want to receive phone calls or emails, I just want music, and I want a device that will hold all of my 12,145 songs, with room to grow.
I don't needs apps, I don't want communication...I just want music.
future post:
Well now that i have an iPod that can hold all my music, and runs great apps, I am even happier!
You don't have to setup e-mail on it if you don't want to ;)

It may not be that they didn't have them, rather they were set aside for being who had already reserved them (the point of reservations).
They were not set aside for reservation. I walked in at 11:00 when they opened and the guy said they never received shipment, so.... they started taking reservations.

I do understand ... very clearly
we do not need to cut corners on things like Helicopters by hanging onto ancient machines like the Sea King Helicopters or as they are known ..."flying coffins"
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/cdnmilitary/seaking.html
You still have not answered the question. For what purpose does Canada need a larger military? Who is the threat?
Cheers,
Ahmed
