Hi...do you think this upgrade will solve the ramdon MB crash problems? Or do you think, as someone told me yesterday, that this problems might be already be solved?

One of the most practical/feasible forms may be to just have 2 screens...an iPod as one screen AND a Tablet screen (i.e. eInk, LCD, etc.). In this way, regular iPod users can CHOOSE to just carry around JUST their iPod for music/video, or take along an ADDITIONAL tablet screen if they desire to watch a movie on the larger screen or read documents (e-books) or email or other apps (albeit with a shorter battery life).
Need to still have a "cool" form factor, such that the iPod nests into the tablet screen seamlessly and not some stupid corded device.
This idea would give the consumer both expandability and more incentive to buy an iPod. What most consumers DON'T want is to buy more and more devices that don't "leverage" each other. MOST consumers don't have an unlimited amount of disposable income to buy a shuffle, a nano, an iPodV, a Mac Tablet, an iPhone, etc.
Your thoughts?

The issue with Verizon (and probably other carriers) isn't a "mother may I..." issue of sending the updates over 3G, the issue is probably exempting the OS updates from any transfer caps.
In other words, to not have the 500MB iOS update apply to the 200MB or 2GB/mo or 5GB/mo data cap. This might require Apple to grease the skids with a little cash for Verizon and AT&T, or limit updates to WiFi only.
That said, Apple in general needs to get a better handle on their update package sizes. I've got 3 Macs, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones on my home internet connection. Its 300-500MB (occasionally more) per Mac each time Apple releases a OSX point release (about every other month), 500MB for each iOS update (every other month) times four devices. So I'm looking at a maximum of 3.2GB of just Apple updates each month. This doesn't include updating iTunes, iPhoto, MS Office, etc.

Same story here - started to get in line at Best Buy in Tustin, CA and was told at 9:15 that despite the Ad, 'Apple didn't ship us any stock so we're taking backorders'
At least he was nice enough to come out and tell us.

Then how is it an 'in-your-face-you-smug-apple-using-retards'?
Why would these "blackhats" be listening to Apple, particularly when they appear to have an axe to grind?
yeah, I don't see how they can make their smugness quotes, and then go to apple and microsoft first before demoing. It does seem odd, since they would know that all companies involved would "pressure" them like that.

I am shopping for a phone as my contract is up and I am considering iPhone 4 or waiting for the iPhone 5 and I'm also considering waiting for the new Nokia's so I'm looking at this with some interest.
What concerns me with the iPhone camera's isn't the optics and the sensors, it's the horrible post-processing that's automatically done to make their (iPhone) pictures 'seem' better, as in the colour saturation. It makes images seem unreal. (Try taking a picture in Grey Manchester) and you'll see how unrealistic the images look.
Can this be turned off? If not, then the 5 -> 8mp nor if they bump up to Karl Zeiss optics won't have any affect as they are still taking unrealistic representations.
I took some around Christmas time with all the lights on, and it actually suits it. But yeah I do hope they give us the option to remove the gloss. I guess that will go hand in hand with using better optics if they're serious about making a good phone camera.

But the inventory shows they have some. Think they're for sale?

Not sure about Voice Control... No matter how well it works, I will probably feel strange taking to a phone. And most of the time it's just easier to press a button than to say it.
This might be in response to Google's voice thing though, which also recognizes "Plain English" and works with speech-to-text instead of typing. This might be something cool for writing text messages and stuff like that, as typing on the iPhone isn't the best.
Actually, I've tried the Siri App, and the speaking part became pretty natural to me. But you could type stuff into it too. While it's currently very limited, the cool part was the contextualized searches and the potential that can have. Imagine a program that can access your calendar, notes, texts, Facebook, etc. through APIs and then be able to search for things accordingly. Like say you want to watch a certain movie tonight, it searches your calendar info to see where you're going to be tonight and finds the closest movie theater. Many other possibilities would make this awesome, perhaps especially in some good app developers' hands.

Good lord stop trying to convince everyone that stealing software is a noble and just cause. It isn't, it's wrong and if you cannot afford the software use something else and/or get a new job.
When I went freelance I didn't have a ton of cash, and certainly just had enough to put 'food on the table' as you say, but guess what? I got the software and wrote it off in taxes reducing the cost anyway. Why? Because I want to be a legit freelancer and I made 33x more than the cost of the software so I'd say it was worth it.
OK, so we've established that you are a pirate, AND a hypocrite.
No, not 100%. You can't possibly know, unless you've surveyed every CSX pirate there ever was. Case in point. You have a full time job, and in this inflating economy, it's not enough to support your family. So, you try to do a little work on the side - just to help pay the bills. Does this person have $1200 to spend on the software? No way. Would he like to? Of course, but his family comes first.
No, again. not any goofball can learn Photoshop and Illustrator. You need to have a certain amount of talent in order to make sense of the tools your are working with. Also, each one can enhance the usability of the other over time with practice, and a lot of trial and error.
So everyone who pirates qualifies for the EDU version? Is lying to get the EDU version better than pirating the full version?

Did someone say gun ownership?
http://www.gun-control-network.org/International.gif
Well, just accentuates the fact that the UK isn't run by a bunch of idiots. Knowing France well, it's appalling the figures being shown there. The french government is a joke, somewhat corrupt and is just a poorly governed country. It seems to me the good people suffer whilst the bad people get away with it, truly despicable.
I know they hospitalise children under 18 for mental illness, the UK doesn't do that and I don't know any other nation which does that. SURELY It's ridiculous for people who aren't even adults to be in mental institutes for weeks and even months? Won't that in fact affect their mental stability by being with other Ill patients?

Anyone notice that you can configure a Mac Mini with a 160 GB hard drive. They're 2.5" aren't they? So that suggests 160 GB will be an option in Apple notebooks soon.
I guess that's not really an unexpected move. I only hope that we get a real 2nd Gen MBP with goodies that have developed since the first (rushed out?) attempt. I'd like one right now, but the longer we have to wait, the more optimistic I get.
Things I'd like in a 15" MBP: Easy-change drive/RAM, faster superdrive, FW800, Macbook-style latch & keyboard.

Here's a work around maybe. Under Systems Preferences > Network > Airport
Click on Configure and then Options...
I wonder if this is a specific to X86 hardware... Does this effect ppc based hardware?
Oh, probably should ask for admin psswd to change networks as well...

No...I think the focus will be on the Macintosh at this year's MacWorld. Therefore I vote for #3. Imagine every new MacBook equipped with an AirPort card that can access AT&T's 3G network. No more searching for WiFi spots. You could access the Internet at fast speeds while cruising down the highway! Pretty cool. It would definitely catch the competition off guard.
THis is one of the most ridiculous posts I have read on this thread. Sorry. So you want Apple to go around the world creating contracts with all mobile operators in the world, so you can use 3G FOR FREE???!! Which isn't even available everywhere??!!.

When did we stop doing sane things in this country?
Wait a second, I was able to easily invest heavily in the future and still fix the budget problems, all while only cutting the military spending by around 25%. I had enough of a surplus, that I could have gone back and cut even less if needed, but would prefer to invest in US infrastructure and manufacturing capacity. Which, coincidentally, would be more important should the military need to rapidly grow than a few fancy trinkets (F22s, helicopters, etc...)

I like the frozen mud spray in this. framing is a bit off because that red on the left is a flag, annoying. Oh, and it's soft too, so technically a pretty bad picture I suppose, but I still like it :) Reminds me of days as a kid in the park playing football and sliding 10m on a tackle.

I think this is the two ways the market share for Macs is gained:
1. Windows users buy an iDevice, then another iDevice, then another iDevice... Then they buy a Mac.
2. Hardcore Mac users (like myself) have children and because of the heavy Mac influence from the start, they turn out to like and use Macs. Thats what happened with me. I grew up with all Macs and no Windows:D
You left out another important source of influence, and that's the school systems. Smart school systems usually buy Macs for the classrooms because they are much lower cost to maintain.
By maintain, I'm speaking of the time it costs to add software, upgrade programs, add perephrials, hook up networks, and all the things you don't need a staff of geeks to just keep the computers doing what you bought them for.
So, kids in all grades and into college get to use Macs a lot and love them.
IBM discovered the power of the classroom back in the 1950s. By working hard to get typing classes switched over to Selectric typewriters they created a generation of users more at home on an IMB machine than on a Royal...the market leader at the time. It almost killed Royal.

Siri is one of my favorite apps. I've yet to have it not understand what I was asking for. For fun, we've asked it all sorts of odd things. "Find me a hooker" did just that after scolding me for being naughty. LOL. Seriously though, if you need a cab, you ask the app to get you a cab and it does.
If Apple integrated this throughout IOS it would be a major improvement. If you don't have Siri, I highly recommend it. Ask it anything, and there it is. If they worked in talk to text and a few other things, I'd be over joyed.

Skunk, all that you have presented above is one interpretation based on things we know about the history of the Canaanite people. This proposition posits that the history the Bible describes is not factually based, but a reinterpretation.
As I said before, I agree that much of the Canaanite people practiced polytheism. However, I believe, as scripture details, that God established a covenant with Abraham and from this covenant the Jewish nation was born. This action precipitated a change from polytheism to monotheism. I don't believe the commonalities that you point to indicate revisionist history. Many religions and mythologies share common concepts, common language, common historical figures, etc. Take Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as an example. They each have their own concepts of historical figures like Abraham and Jesus.
I understand that you think your view of the evidence is the correct view and I respect your right to have that opinion. However, the whole of both the Jewish and the Christian faith would disagree.
