Ah, I didn't see that.
It's hardly very prominent, considering this is meant to be a, potentially, very dangerous problem.
Anyway, I can't be bothered to call Apple, I'll just wait and see how this all pans out.
Yeah, not very eye-catching. It's the same size as the copyright info. Looks like some more insignifcant legal disclaimer stuff.

Sorry but my desk is a right state today and I'm not going to embarrass myself by showing it to the web. However, you'll be glad to hear that it came with two "nano" Apple stickers :)

I would always want an offline firmware update and local backup available, so wifi iOS updating is definitely not what I want. Got burned a few years back on a Belkin router that died during an online firmware update so im never going try that again.
Too much stuff is heading for the cloud. I want it on terra firma thankyouverymuch.

If you don't absolutely NEED it, practice a little self-control and wait. You'll regret you order if you place it and the new MBPs come out next weeek.

By offering applications both ways you have an advantage. Apps that want to be listed on the App store need to pass all the usual tests and review process.
By offering applications via your own website you get a warning saying the app wasn't reviewed by app, use at your own risk blah blah blah.
Again, I think it's you who doesn't get Apple's logic here. When a 3rd party application crashes the iPhone, uses too much data, etc, it's Apple and the carrier who take the blame, not the idiot developer who developed crap-ware.
Apple would evidently rather spend less time hardening their phone and more time developing the next version of it. The app approval process lets them check things out with an app before it goes out to the greasy unwashed masses.
If that doesn't float your boat there are plenty of alternatives.
1. Get a different device that lets you install whatever you want.
2. Jailbreak your iPhone, just don't call Apple when you flock it up.
The point made about Facebook being a walled garden is a valid one. Your phone is rapidly on the way to being your passport for functioning in society. It will soon be the key fob to start your car, act as a credit card, etc. Do you really want any software out there running on a device that has this much involvement in your life?

You know exactly what every MBP purchaser does with their hardware do you?
I would notice the upgrade. A LOT.

Who knows? Maybe there is a genetic component involved.
So you're saying it is race, but not because of racism, but because of genetics? If it's genetics then how does it explain the successful blacks like your president among countless others?

I'm sure some of them have, sorta how some of the Libyan people have.
Side note:
I'm seriously worried what will become of the power vacuum when Qaddafi leaves. To think the rebel forces are somehow an actual organized group is absurd. The only thing unifying many of these people is the will to see Qaddafi fall. After that there will be a mad struggle for power, most likely in conjunction with half assed elections.
This whole Libya situation is going to blow up in the not too distant future. I forsee the civil war shifting after Qaddafi leaves into the rebel forces fighting amongst themselves.
I shudder to think what is going to happen if we arm them, hopefully Obama wasn't just talking out of his ass when he said we actually need to learn from history for once. Our country's cycle of support>arm>aid>turn against>support new group needs to stop, as it is directly responsible for much of the instability we've seen in the world over the last 20+ years. We create our own enemies to fight after they no longer serve our interests.
I've been unable to get a good grasp on what percentage of Libyans are against Qaddafi. The impression that I'm getting is that the majority (maybe a large majority) of the country really wants him out (though impressions can be very misleading).
Which in my eyes means the majority of Libya's citizenry is at risk of being out right massacred mainly because Qaddafi has the money to buy guns and soldiers.
Your concerns about a power vacuum and inter tribal fighting are certainly justified though :(.

Urr no. Sony Vegas had had this sort of pricing for years and is used widely professionally because that was what it was designed for. Do you actually think that being a professional is being about owning a certain piece of software? So true, I know folks still running the original Media 100, GV Edius, MC Meridiens and even first run Premiere.
Folks you really only need one or two video layers to get a job done :)
From my line of work I rarely go higher than 2 since most of my work is done pre NLE (motion design and 3D).

...at this moment, it's not a problem most Mac users need to worry about. But blowing it off completely is sophomoric at best.
Yup. As others have said, this isn't an Apple specific problem, but its good to expose the flaws found and get them sorted. Nothing really to see here, move along.
Dang video keeps stalling on me. We much be flooding it with requests.

It's nice to see the generally positive comments on this forum, other forums for "professionals" are not so happy!
Personally I can't wait to start working with it.
You should have been here earlier! I think before everyone had seen some video of the presentation some people were getting heated!
Apple won't sell a suite (there are no suites in the App Store). Look at iWork - just individual apps for purchase. They'll probably charge $299 for FCP and $99/each for the other apps, or have it all rolled up into Final Cut Pro.
Wow $99 is sounding awfully wishful! I mean Color was considered a steal at being part of the $1,000 suite! I can't see how Apple is going to do offer the suite. Is FCPX the new FCE but it also comes as part of the $800ish suite?
Perhaps as it has been speculated FCPX is it and all the other applications fit into it (perhaps given the reason for skipping 8 & 9 revisions?)
I think Apple still has some big tricks under its sleeves and its a worthwhile one more thing... that we haven't seen in a while!

The ios iPod app is an abomination. Even with my moderately sized(about 3000 songs, most are just vocab flash cards) the thing chokes on my 3gs and even a bit on 1g iPad. It takes seconds, yes SECONDS to respond to input, not to mention all the crashing. Even if they could make a 128gb iPod touch, I would shudder to think at how insanely slow the iPod app would be if you loaded that puppy up with music.
In my case it's adding ONE podcast to listen too before bed, then waiting forever as it sits there "updating" the library. I can sync and start to listen to it in the same time on my classic.

Well spoken, blitzkrieg79.
It is amazing to me that otherwise intelligent people parrot the corporate line that its simply not possible to manufacture products domestically and remain profitable. Do people really think that $80 name brand shirts, $140 shoes, or the $2500 computers being made on the other side of the planet are being sold at a price anywhere near what it actually cost to make? C'mon.
Why is it every time a company moves manufacturing overseas, we never see a reduction in the price?
If Apple was just barely squeezing out a profit and scraping by, holding on by their fingernails, I'd buy their line about needing to manufacture practically everything overseas, but we're talking about a company that makes absolutely enormous profits.
So Apple simply can't afford to manufacture here anymore? Well, how much profit did Apple make last quarter, again? Haha, sure, right.
