I can almost swear the initial press release announced this as an "institutional purchase only" product. I was actually surprised when students or teachers claimed they could order it as well. Maybe they just noticed their mistake and pulled it from personal purchase channels.

I wonder how much these dudes got paid for the leaks. However much, it wasn't worth it.
One way to look at it, if it was a high amount, say, $1m, would you rather your family be rich off the commission you got while you're in jail, or be poor with them outside?

Well, unfortunatley I won't be going to MacWorld (not this year anyway...) but my plans include not going on the internet until after my exams are done and the QT stream is up and watch it with some nice nachos! :D

No, but it's a pretty great source for most things.

That's my point really, society has done away with personal responsibility. Prosecution should not even come into this. She made a bad judgement call and if she was to die because of it, she should be sole responsible. She's a victim of her own actions. That is utterly ridiculous.

I don't think that it's backed up anymore. Just use a different browser to click on the button. I was able to successfully watch it with few hiccups about an hour ago.
Also - I have pretty much given up downloading the keynote as HiDownload gets about 10MB in and then thinks its done and just stops. I also tried Net Transport and Stream Down and those don't work either.

In recent history, say the last five years, has Apple ever released new products in the Holiday belt (between Thanksgiving(US of course) and Christmas)? Nothing for me comes to mind.
But I do recall that Apple has head the release of new products for MacWorld when you'd think that they just missed the boat of the holiday shopping season.
I don't remember any new hardware in November, let alone December. (Please speak up and correct me, what was the most recent Apple hardware both announced and released Nov.1 - Dec. 31)
If Apple's going to break this tradition for a video iPod, do it before Thanksgiving!

Sheesh, that independent study is all you have to back up yourself.
So, you would like me to ignore FACTS, is that it? I should just pretend that the study does not exists?
You are claiming that Wikipedia is not accurate. I'm saying that according to independent study carried out by the Nature-magazine, Wikipedia IS accurate. You are disputing that claim. In that case I think that you need to go talk to Nature and tell them that they have no idea what they are talking about.
on the A380 article, the height was changed from 78ft 6in to 78ft 3in!
Oh the humanity! So which of those figures is the right one? If it's the latter, are you then complaining becuase they find errors and fix them?
Thank $DEITY Britannica has no errors in it! No sirree! Nevermind the fact that it DOES contain errors as well (in Natures comparison, they found 8 "major errors". 4 of those errors were in Wikipedia, 4 were in Britannica.
And there are plenty more. I read one about "Larry King's farting habit" that stayed up for a month.
Exception to the rule. That is what Nature said about those kind of entires in Wikipedia after their study. You do know that there are over a million articles in Wikipedia, and you are whining becuase you found one that has some weird comments in it? And if it stayed up for a month, why didn't you fix it? I have actually fixed two articles in Wikipedia (I don't remember the other, but the second was some grammar-fixes in English article about Finnish mythology.). Took me about 5 minutes in total.
And maybe he does have a farting-habit ;)?
Yes, many articles in Wikipedia a accurate, but minor things can be changed without notice.
Well, there is the history-function that provides information to what was change, when was it changed and who changed it. So it's not like the changes simply appear without anyone noticing. Each article has a detailed history that shows EXACTLY what has been changed.
And when I said the thing about the bums, I meant that I'd rather read what a person with a PhD in Botany has to say about the Brasilian Verbena over a Wikipaedist that just has googled the subject a few times.
What makes you think that the article in Wikipedia was not written by someone who has a PhD in Botany? "oh no, they are just bums who use Google!". Generalize much?
So, what do you have do say? Maybe quote that study few times again for me, please.
Oh, I dunno. Maybe YOU could just say "but anyone can edit it! They are just bums!" few more times? Nevermind that it's utterly pointless and dumb, but that's the only thing you seem to have to say.

sounds neat. but honestly after having a treo 650.... I would much rather the additional option of a smart PDA/Phone/Ipod.
that would go much farther than a mini cell phone/ipod.
just my thoughts.

Normally, how much are store bought DVDs in the US & Canada these days? I personally don't have any desire to buy DVDs. Like others here, I typically watch a movie just once. However, I've recently been able to justify purchasing some because (a) they are considerably cheaper than 2 movie tickets, and (b) my local video store's new ownership doesn't seem to like purchasing DVDs.
I recently bought Wedding Crashers, Firewall, and Syriana because they were only about 10 dollars each. Not bad. Children's movies-- one type than I can easily justify buying because of the multiple viewings-- are slightly more.
-Squire
Most new releases in the US can be had for between $15-20. But I rarely purchase movies. Probably 80% of my DVDs are live performances or TV show collections, both of which receive multiple, long-term viewings.

You really think apple is going to let you store music that you didn't buy from them for free? My guess is all music purchased from iTunes can be streamed, and mobile me users can upload theirs.
I hope this isn't just for music though. In mobile me you can upload photos which is nice. I would love to see this done for movies. I buy a movie from apple and can forever stream through my apple tv or iDevice. Or a monthly renting plan.
I want my media to take up less space, be easily accessible, and priced fairly.
Two possibilities:
This service must be part of MobileMe to further push Apple's sync services
MobileMe will go down to $30/year or so.
Apple can fill the rest of the cost with tiny fees from Music Industry, iAds etc. Apple can even make everything free if iAds are placed in MobileMe etc.

There is only one "viewer" now, which swaps between showing the timeline or editing clips. In the left side panel, you can choose clips, and they appear in the single viewer. Then when you drag them into the timeline, the viewer switches to timeline playback.
I think that this makes a lot of sense, as you would not use the viewer and the timeline playback at the same time anyway, so why not let it switch automatically between then two, saving space.
I get that, but I need to compare frames side-by-side at times to ensure they're going to flow together. I love space-saving UI but I'm not sure that this one is going to pan out for me. I see a keystroke to quickly switch between the two in my future...

students who are buying PCs won't buy them at the Campus stores, so nobody has any idea what the real percentages are.
Students who buy Macs will buy them at campus stores because it is the convenient place to get the student discount.

didn't it used to be blue back in the day?
I changed mine to a custom icon ages ago, so it doesn't reallty matter to me. ;) I know at one point it was green though (current version?) so this sounds like it's probably a minor change.

I'd say they are my people now.... As a atheist with Christian parents, I still don't like the idea of any religious group being discriminated against.
That said, atheist are in a much worse position the Jews in America...there's only one openly atheist congressmen and most main stream candidates bring up how important religion is as their guiding light, and a lack of faith is often meet with questions. I do agree anti-semitism is an important issue, but the rate of it in USA is at a point that's quite good consider how many people we have and historically what it has been.
As for the original article, I agree with the point, Jewish people do have a large say in American policy, but I don't mind that, I mind their views that they use their influence to support(again there are non-extreme Jews, but I'd say the 'main stream Jewish stance' on things like Israel and general middle east policy is greatly flawed) But its also clear the people interview has too extreme of a view.
For such a small minority, they control our lives.. Look at corporate rule in this country, hence why the USA is still and will be messed up.. Recession? Over? Hardly.. job market? Better? Wrong again... its all part of the NEW WORLD ORDER under Barrack Hussein Obama and others who support him.
I am completely for the end of support for the state that commits crimes against men, women, and children.. an army that calls itself the "Israeli army".. should be called the Brown jackets army.
