Whilst the new Nano's are nice as are the new video ipods I don't see any compelling reason at the minute for me to go and spend some $$$.
I bought my ipod in January (at a substantially reduced price compared to full UK retail when I was in Japan) and it's working a charm. I didn't fall foul of the scratching/screen problems because I was careful enough to buy adhesive screen protector/case. Yeah it might not look as cool inside a rubber enclosure but it sure as hell isn't gonna break.
My problem with the new Nano's is that there just doesnt seem anything that would compell me to upgrade now a MUST HAVE feature. Most certainly I'll upgrade when either a) Ipod has an accident or b) the battery fails as considering a battery service is half the cost of a new 2GB nano it doesnt seem wortwhile.
So yeah...nice...but my wallet stays shut till something happens to my current Nano. Sorry Apple :(

Slap a Core 2 Duo in it, bump it up to a 15 or 15.4 inch screen and watch it become Apples best selling notebook ever.

The album artwork retriever feature doesnt work that well. Gets some albums, some I didnt even know iTunes offered, yet ignores some of their best sellers like American Idiot and Demon Days!

I just wonder if there is any upgrade pricing strategy. No matter what - $299 is A STEAL!
Specifically addressed after the main demo.
No upgrade pricing, versions, etc.; one price, from the app store. Period.
Considering the current FCS price...

Or just expand it to 2-3 weeks and repeat the event so all can come who want to. I am sure Apple wouldn't mind making a few million more off the event
They bring in about 7.5 million. Sounds like a lot, right? Let's look at it.
Figure about 1000 employees supporting it. Remember there will be offsite support as well. Average cost is about $150,000/year. For 1 week. There goes 2.8 million.
Now, these things do not prep overnight. In fact, employees are already starting the planning on the sessions. My guess is you will have another 2000 employes prepping for 40-80 hours over the next 10 weeks. There goes another.. we will say.. what... 4.5 million. We are 7.3 and we still don't have the Moscone center rented for a week. Lost productivity. Work interruption...

The video of the wireless mac hack has finally been made publically available on Kaneva:
http://www.kaneva.com/asset/8469.storeItem
Just in time for developcon...
That was actually a hack of a wireless USB card, not a hack of the Mac itself; the Mac was just used for publicity. The hack only works with this wireless USB card, not with the built-in wireless. The news stories attached to this stunt were quite misleading...
Plugging a wireless USB card into any computer is just like handing a hacker your keyboard, the computer handles it just like any other input device. So, if you handed a hacker your keyboard and didn't encrypt and password protect your files, would you expect the OS to protect them?

What also sucks, and I still stick with my call,is that the Halo community contains the largest number of @$$hats to ever discover a microphone. From the well documented You Tube video of random players verbally harassing a gay player before a match even starts. To the almost pathetic way some players are addicted to the 'N' word. To the now immortal play style of wanting to be the only player who gets the best weapon or vehicle, and are willing to kill teammates to get it.
Totally agree. Team killing ****** me so much. The worse thing is that usually if someone kills you to get your sniper or other weapon, you often don't get the option to boot them but if I accidentally betray someone it always seems like I get booted.
I also usually mute people straight away during multiplayer. I don't play halo to hear people saying random/stupid things or singing into the mic. I have never heard the "N" words used before though.
Also ranking of halo games for me:
1. Reach
2. Halo 3
3. ODST
4. Halo Ce
.
.
.
5.Halo 2 (by far the worst one)

I bet it has to do something with the Greener Apple project.
"There is something in the air." is probably a reference to toxins and bad stuff released to the enviroment by Macs, currently.
So with that said, Steve will introduce the following enhanced products:
- New Cinema Displays, thinner, aluminium, LED backlight.
- New MacBooks (we know 13,3" LED displays were ordered by Apple some weeks ago), same design, new aluminium casing, LED backlight.
Apart from that, there are the changes that are likely going to happen:
- iTunes 7.6, including movie rentals
- iPhone 1.1.3 sofware (probably dubbed 1.2.0 or so)
- Updates on the 3G iPhone
None of the banners in the past really "teased" us with information about an upcoming product. They were just headlines offering some information about which route Apple was going.
Is there a list of MacWorld banners from the past? Love to see that.

Anyone have experience with this chair? The price is great and I like the design. Not sure about ergonomics and durability though.
I have a similar chair that I got from Tesco in the UK, and its really comfortable and sturdy.

Apple Airlines, a new premium air carrier to buck the trend of the various low cost airlines and cost cutting of services!
You could be close.
Maybe Apple's made so much money, they're buying Steve another jet. :)

That's like saying that Microsoft should make windows work better with iTunes... kinda backwards.
Given that Safari is the fastest browser out there, I think Apple has done their part. Adobe needs to step up, and optimize flash for osx.
Well, if iTunes was a plugin, used by virtually 100% of the world's computer users, then Microsoft would care enough, to ensure that it ran well on its platform.
Apple has been fairly hostile to Flash, and has obviously not cared enough, to ensure that Flash performs well on its platform.
And as far as Safari being the fastest browser, you believe in ads way too much. Safari is the most inefficient of the major browsers with Flash, and it has some serious issues with Java. It takes it about three times longer to load my iGoogle page, than either Camino or Firefox.
After I did my tests with Flash (see my post above), I finally changed from having Safari as the default browser, to Firefox 3.6 Beta, on all my Macs, as well as on my HTPC (W7). Safari has a great UI, IMO, but I actually customized Firefox to look just like Safari, so I am happy.
But if my iPhones 3GS don't get Flash in the next few months, through jailbreaking or officially, I'll be looking carefully at some of the new Androids with the enormous screens soon.
I love Apple, I love their design. But I already switched to Windows for my Home Theater box, after realizing that Apple would never deliver what I wanted, and I'll switch my phones even easier, if my Internet experience is crippled, because of the lack of Flash.

If they increase the amount of RAM to 1GB they could increase the amount the integrated graphics use to around 128mb, the current 64mb is a bit low.
The 64 MB quoted for the GMA950 is actually a "sliding window". It can (and often does) request a larger chunk of video RAM from the memory controller as required. Out of that chunk, the GMA950 slides around its 64 MB window to adjust which areas of memory it can directly manipulate at any given time.
(According to Apple's website, simply booting MacOS X on a MacBook or Mac Mini causes the graphics system to commandeer approximately 80 MB of RAM.)
__________
BTW, that's the reason why computers running the GMA950 chipset will be able to run Windows Vista using the new Aero interface, despite the fact
that systems with dedicated video RAM of less than 128 MB will have to use the Classic (Windows 95/98) interface.

Nice job by Apple on the 24". Very tempting system.
The 7600GT isn't a bad card at all for gaming. The only thing to rememeber is that it has to push 1900x1200 in those games unless you drop the resolution. I think the 7600GT has a 128 bit memory bus. All in all it should do fine for the games that are availible right now.

No, I'm saying this completely fake but probable guy isn't doing well enough with his full time job (which is as a graphic artist), so he's doing a little freelance work to get to a point where he can afford his various monthly payments. It's a break even thing, and there's not much left over, if any... theoretically.
And this fake and completely improbable guy scenario can't ask his boss to use the legally licensed copy at work after hours or just use an older version version ? Or can't do without the FULL CS suite and just buy the portions he needs ? Or... just use another tool than Adobe's that is cheaper ?
No seriously, not an excuse or valid scenario. A freelancer would find a way if he's motivated enough.

AT&T already does ota updates for Android phones.
The update notice tells you that the download will begin once you connect to wifi.
Keeps you from blowing through your data plan.
Makes sense that they would do it for the iPhone too.
I was going to say this as well. It's how my Android phones have always been (with AT&T). Don't know why Apple can't utilize the same method (notification of update, and tell user to connect to wifi to complete update) for my iPhones.

Yes, it is. The screw has always been there. I will say that ours is no longer flush like it was at first. Brushing your hand over it means you feel the screw whereas in May we could not. So, the screw may be more noticeable if this is true for others, as well. I could see it being very annoying for some.
Just got my mabook back from getting its optical drive replaced and the service centre have also replaced the heat sink (i never mentioned RSS at all so not sure why they did it). I have noticed the central screw is no longer flush now. not a huge problem but does this mean the new heatsink causes the screw to stick out a bit?

I think that this is a really good idea, if they can get a large enough screen. Add in a few tools like highlighting and a dictionary, and I might consider replacing my nano.
