Whine whine whine. That clearly makes Apple fix the problem.
Why not?
It's obviously worked for :apple: with their PC vs Mac commercials in terms of their minuscule OS market-share.

Now if we can come to accept that they're are in fact a number of problems within the black community (at least in the United States, I'm not particularly well aware of whats going on in the UK). I think they're are a number of things that can be done to mitigate the problem.
First Social Welfare Programs:
We already have some of these and I'm not particularly well educated on what they provide but these are CRUCIAL. If you don't have a warm place to sleep and food to eat than your odds of being able to improve your situation are basically impossible.
Greater Availability of Birth Control and Education About the Same:
There is a reason that there are so many births happening out of wedlock in this community and you can bet it starts with people not using birth control or using it correctly. I would advocate for a greater availability of condoms and in particular the pill to just about anyone who wants it. No the pill doesn't stop the spread of STD's but I think it's a little more moment of total irresponsibility proof.
I believe there should be social help, but not all help has a positive effect. For instance, after world war two, we started a program to help widows who had lost husbands in the war. Eventually that program expanded to any single mother. That essentially became an incentive to raise children out of wedlock, and the percent of children raised by a single black mother rose from <10% to >35% in just a few years.
There needs to be social programs, but there also needs to be an incentive to work. People need more incentives to finish out high school. Imagine having poor parenting and no life direction. Eventually you have to choose whether or not to drop out of high school. If you know that the state will take care of every need and even some wants, what incentive is there to finish school? However, if you know that if you don't finish school you'll barely be able to get by, then even with poor role models you will have a greater chance of choosing to graduate.
A safety net is necessary, but we must make sure that the programs encourage productive behavior, rather than sheltering bad behavior.
The birth control stuff is a good point. But accidental pregnancies seem to be more of a symptom than the root problem
Isn't it curious that other minorities who were historically treated extremely poorly in the US (the Irish) rose up the ladder very quickly while it is taking generations for others? One difference to consider is that we did not have social programs for the Irish, and they were forced to work their way up. One of my best friends great-grandparents were dirt poor irish immigrants. They lived off not much more than saltine crackers for years, and now his family is in the upper middle class. They didn't get that way from special treatment from the government. (not saying social programs shouldn't exist. Just saying that they also have the power to take us a step backwards)

Yeah, my A1078 battery from my 15" PB with serial 3K509 clearly lies in the problematic range (3K425 - 3K601) but is not being accepted by the web application... I'm gonna call Apple support tomorrow instead cause it looks like a buggy web app to me.
I was already on the phone with Apple and they said the page is bogged down and to give it some time to cool off. My battery was in the range, Apple told me it was, and the app still doesn't work. Save some time and try again tomorrow or later tonight when people should be asleep.

THAT is exactly what Im talking about. All you people bitch and complain about new things/developments that Apple might be working on (and later announce) and at first you all hate it. Then you get used to it, and then one day you find you love it. I hope the iPhone does come out and you all hate it and it becomes a phenomenal success....the same case the iPod once faced. Same with the new names (MacBook). Same with the switch to Intel (now look how lucky we are). Same with the Intel integrated graphi...well...no one likes those actually, but my point is stop thinking you're going to hate it because you're most likely going to end up getting it anyway.
That's an amazing point!! I wasn't around these forums back then.. but I am blown away at the original iPod reaction!! Wow!!

You guys do realize that your 3G is realistically 4 years old, right? It used the same processor, screen, graphics and RAM as the very first iPhone. They just added the 3G/aGPS chip to make it a 3G device. Four years is an eternity in cell phones.
Thats no excuse for apple to gimp the 3g. iphones are not meant to be disposable, they cost over $600+. All these bloated updates are bogging down that little phone's system. They should have their own lighter update packages.
I use an old, cheap, Nokia 3500 and its as fast as the day I bought it. It will surely last many more years to come. Then again, its not really a little computer with a phone in it. But this baby sure lasts.

wednesday is sooo the new tuesday!
Id guess one of 2 things:
they wanted to give the spotlight to election day
or they decided to release it, cause the cat was so far out of the bag already.

Someday, I hope, Apple will release another 12" laptop- prefereably an MBP. I don't think I will buy another computer until then- I love my 1.33 12" PB!
I hear ya. I'm using the same machine and want a replacement. That replacement machine doesn't exist (yet).
Apple has access to all those lovely ULV C2Ds for a start. They would make an excellent basis for a sleek new Macbook Nano for example.

I would guess that iPhone5 will be duel mode GSM and CMDA... so I would assume the 4G should be able to adapt to either.
isn't LTE a completely different spec than GSM or CDMA?

I sure hope my college gives out free upgrades like they did with XP Pro, because $239 is a LOT to spend on an OS!
(and no, after the DLhell from doing an upgrade from 98 to XP, I would never go the upgrade route again)

I agree with you there is just something about the 13" MacBook that doesn't fit but the 12" its PERFECT
I could not agree more! That 13'' is just too bulky compared to the beautiful form factor of the best laptop ever made. That said.. mine is getting sloooower, I'll bump it up to 1.25Gb of RAM here soo, just waiting for prices to come down.
I'm not getting rid of this laptop anytime soon.

That's the problem. There's no way I'm having a white laptop.
My friend calls them toilet seats. But he has a white one too. Trust me, Apple screwed up with the black finish. It's stupid matte paint that absorbs grease marks, and *does* peel off. I had both issues.
Your only other option then is a MacBook Pro. Worth it IMO, but you might not want to pay the premium.

If they build it from scratch, they could probably design the place with working conditions that don't make people as suicidal (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1104449&referrerid=51132).

Ugh, this is going to give my PC-loving friends fuel for YEARS. Just like every little crap article that comes out about ANY possible Apple security problem.
The taunts are already pouring in! "Ha! Ha! The shoe is on the other foot now!" "Oh how the tables do turn!" "Guess you can't act all high and mighty NOW, huh?" "Intel chips and now exploding batteries? Where do I sign up for a DellI mean, Mac again?"
AHH!!!

I hope this is true!!!
How is Sony's track record with sensors though?
Let's go Fall! (Not even WWDC ;))
They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.
Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.

Integrate motion sensors! With a flick of the wrist, the page will turn. Hot Damn!
Heh, and just like a real book, if there's a sudden draft, all the pages will flick past and you'll lose you place.
Considering that one of the first uses for most new technologies (such as the "book" and "moving pictures") has traditionally been porn, why not have an emergency "boss" or "wife" button to flick to a boring business report or something else preconfigured. Of course that might only work if they don't know of the feature themselves. iPorn. Gotta Love It.
